Do solar panels need an inverter?

These are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which collect light from the sun and convert it into DC current. To make this power produced by the solar panels usable, an inverter is required. In short, an inverter is an electronic device that converts the DC power generated by the solar panels into AC power at the correct voltage for the grid.

What does a solar inverter do?

Inverters are the 'brains' of your solar power system. Their primary function is to convert the direct current (DC) output into alternating current (AC) – AC is the standard used by all home appliances. And just like solar panels, not all inverters are built the same.
