How much electricity is produced in Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2021?

The total electricity produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021 was 17.64 TWh and the annual average electricity production per inhabitant measured in kilowatt-hours was 5,393 kWh . Fig. 1 shows the distribution of various sources for energy production in B&H in 2022.

Electric power is primarily generated in coal-fired thermal and large-scale hydro power plants and the country is a net exporter of electrical energy. The generating capacity is about 17,000 GWh. BiH historically had a comparative advantage in electricity, particularly because of its natural hydropower resources and coal reserves.

Where is the first solar power plant in Bosnia & Herzegovina?

In 2012, Bosnia and Herzegovina established the first solar power plant (SPP) in the site called Kalesija. This solar power plant generates a power of 120 kWh and the panels are distributed over 1200 m 2. Converted solar energy is sent to the Electric Power Industry of B&H. Its annual production counts 150,000 kWh of electricity.
