How many transmission lines are underground in Tokyo?

92.6% of transmission lines in Tokyo's 23 wards are underground lines. Do you know that electricity produced at the power plant is delivered to customers via substations? If you do, you may have observed that electricity is being passed through transmission lines to distribution lines, and finally to your home to everyday consumption.

What does the Tohoku Electric Power Network look like?

The power system (green) managed by the Tohoku Electric Power Network looks like this. The thick line shows the 500kV transmission line and the ± 250kV DC interconnection line, and the thin line shows the 275kV transmission line. In Kanto, thick lines were arranged so as to surround Tokyo, but in Tohoku, only one thick line runs.
